INTEL employees have donated a massive €75,000 to two local charities.

Every year the company selects two charities for employees to dedicate their combined efforts towards – whether by providing volunteer time or raising funds through specially organised activities.

For 2019, Saplings Rathfarnham and Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue were chosen as their signature charities.

Just before Christmas, the team was delighted to present to them over €75,000 which was raised through a range of fundraising events that took place throughout the year.

This money will be split evenly between both organisations with each receiving almost €38,000 to support them in the vital work they do.

In addition to the funds raised, over 2,000 hours of employee volunteer time was provided to the charities by over 400 individuals.

Highlights of the fundraising activities included the annual Intel Charity Cycle, which took place at the beginning of September, bake sales and fun runs.

Another key event was ‘The Intel Oskars’ which took place in October and was a massive success, raising over €21,000 for the charities.

Employees also supported the development of an Intel Occupational Therapy (OT) room at Saplings that will house state-of-the -art equipment which is specially designed to help children achieve their maximum potential and to support their learning environment.

Intel employees also had the opportunity to support a key activity for Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue as they helped to assemble t-shirt packs in preparation for the annual ‘Walk the Line’ fundraising event which sees people take part in a day into night trek to raise money for the mountain rescue organisation.

All the money raised through these activities were presented to representatives from both deserving charities.
