THE 2019 Spirit Sandyford 5k returns later this month.

The race, which is now in its fifth year, will be held on Thursday, September 26 at 7pm on the roads of the Sandyford Business District area.

The event is hosted by Dundrum South Dublin Athletic Club in association with the Sandyford Busi-ness District. Over 750 runners, joggers and walkers will take part in the race, which continues to grow in popularity since it began in 2015.

Teams of four are invited to enter, and all team runners start together, with team scores determined by the total time of all members.

Teams will compete to win an array of prizes, ranging from cash to vouchers provided by Total Physio and the Beacon Hotel. The race starts and ends on Three Rock Road in the heart of the Sandyford Business District.

Participants will meet up after the race at the Race HQ at Spirit Volvo on Birch Avenue, where they will be able enjoy refreshments from Freshii, as well as receiving their race bags featuring a range of goodies from sponsors.

Kathy Endersen, General Manager of organisers Dundrum South Dublin AC, is looking forward to this year’s race.

“The Spirit Sandyford 5k has been a hugely popular addition to the running calendar and has been embraced by the Sandyford business community over the past five years,” she said.

“It’s a great opportunity for teams to build camaraderie with work colleagues, as well as enjoying the challenge of completing the 5k course.

“We’d like to thank our title sponsors Spirit for their continued support, along with our other race sponsors KBC, Total Physio, Beacon Hospital, Freshii and the Beacon Hotel, and of course the Sandyford Business District, who have also championed the event since it started.”

Ms Enderson added: “We’re excited to bring this event to Sandyford once again, and we’re looking forward to a fantastic event on September 26.”

Melanie McCourt, Marketing Manager of Spirit, added: “Spirit Motor Group are delighted to continue our sponsorship of the Spirit Sandyford 5k. This is a fantastic event in our local area and we are excited to be a part once again.”

The 5k is one of the highlights of Wellness Week, organised by the Sandyford Business District programme of wellness activities planned.
