MORE than 70 runners and almost 20 volunteers attended the Holywell Junior parkrun in Swords when it marked its 100th event recently.

Greta Streimikyte, a local Paralympian 1500m runner, led the children in the warm-up. Greta brought along the gold medal she won at the 2018 European Championships. Some of the children got to see the medal close up and had their photos taken with Greta.

Mayor of Fingal Cllr Eoghan O’Brien also attended and gave the kids plenty of encouragement before counting down to the start of the run.

Sinead, event director of Holywell juniors, was presented with flowers for her achievement in volunteering at 100 parkruns, most them being on Sundays at Holywell.
