MINISTER for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross, and the Minister with responsibility for Sport, Brendan Griffin have praised the Irish team following its success at the World Para Swimming Championships held earlier this month in London.

Ellen Keane, from Clontarf, won a bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke with a season's best performance, while Nicole Turner, took bronze in the 50m butterfly.

Minister Ross said: “In particular, I would like to congratulate Nicole Turner and Ellen Keane on winning bronze.

“These results are a tribute to your hard work, commitment and dedication to reach the highest levels in your sport.”

Minister Griffin said: Ireland's proud tradition in Paralympic sport has once again been further enhanced by the team’s magnificent performance in London this week.

“I would like to wish you all continued success in the future, and especially in your preparations for Tokyo.”
