A joint, intelligence led operation targeting crime groups in the North Dublin area was carried out yesterday by the Revenue's Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and gardaí from the Drugs Unit in Ballymun.

During the course of this operation, a package containing approximately 1.2kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of €24,000 (subject to analysis), together with other drugs related paraphernalia, was seized by Customs Officers at an apartment in the Coolock area.

Gardaí arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with this investigation. He is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Ballymun Garda Station.

Investigations are continuing.
