FINGAL County Council has been shortlisted in eight categories of the 2019 All Ireland Community and Council LAMA & IPB awards.

These awards recognise and celebrate communities and councils working together. Now in its 13th year, the awards, presented by IPB Insurance and Local Authority Members’ Association (LAMA), will take place on February 9 in Croke Park.

The Fingal projects included in the finals are:

• Best Culture/Arts Events - Flavours of Fingal 

• Best Community Based Initiative - Fingal Comhairle na nÓg short film

• Best disability access and inclusion initiative - Rush Harbour Playground 

• Best Energy Smart Initiative - Fingal County Council Installs Electric Vehicle Charging on the Public Street Lighting System 

• Best Environmental Initiative - Fingal County Council Installs Electric Vehicle Charging on the Public Street Lighting System 

• Best Heritage Project - Development of Newbridge House & Farm as a Heritage Attraction

• Best Public Park - Rock Garden Park, Rathbeale Road, Swords, and Saint Catherine’s Park, Lucan

• Community Volunteer of the year - Billy Bebbington

Chief executive of Fingal County Council, Paul Reid, said he is delighted to see so many Fingal initiatives being recognised in awards

“The Environment, Community, Heritage, Parks and Operations Departments were all involved in implementing these projects,” he said,  

“This highlights the extent to which the council works with communities to improve the health and well-being of Fingal residents.”
