Howth beach in 1972

This video of Howth in 1972 will bring a nostalgic tear to your eye.

Almost half a century later, the peninsula continues to be a popular spot for foreign tourists and Dublin daytrippers alike. Sadly, many of the area's famous hotels - such as the Howth Lodge, Royal, Sutton Castle and St Lawrence Hotel - are long gone.

But as this video shows, many of the pubs and local landmarks are still around today.

Sit back, relax and enjoy this journey back in time.
