A NORTHSIDE woman is celebrating after winning a competition with a prize valued at €100,000.

Jennifer Rock, aka The Skin Nerd, founder of an online skincare consultancy, has been crowned winner of ‘The Pitch’, a competition aimed at female entrepreneurs from all over the country.

‘The Pitch’ was launched by Samsung Ireland in partnership with IMAGE Magazine in a bid to find Ireland’s leading female entrepreneur.

From 115 entries, Snapchat star Jennifer, from Balbriggan, was announced as the overall winner and took home a prize worth €100,000 of Samsung technology and promotion for her business, ‘The Skin Nerd’.

The grand finale took place on July 25 in the Sugar Club where seven shortlisted entrants gathered to compete for the career changing prize.

Finalists were invited to put their best business case forward in front of an expert panel of judges including beauty mogul Jo Malone, Newstalk presenter and founder of Insomnia Coffee Company Bobby Kerr, Suzanne Homewood (Enterprise Sales Director, Samsung UK & Ireland), Linda Nolan (Head of Marketing Samsung Ireland) and Clodagh Edwards (CEO Image Publications).

Following much deliberation, Jennifer was announced as the winner by a unanimous vote.

Jennifer, a skincare aficionado with 12 years’ experience in the industry, aims to pave the way for the future of skincare consultancies.

Starting her business with a simple product – The Cleanse Off Mitt, she then went on to set up ‘The Skin Nerd’ in 2017. She now employs 12 people full time and has plans to launch an app, a new product and lots more in the coming year.

Jennifer will receive a full business suite of Samsung products with everything from the latest Samsung smartphones the Galaxy S9+ to facilitate flexible and mobile working, to its digital flip charts and monitors.

She will also be given a digital marketing masterclass with Teneo PSG Digital and a multi-platform media package from IMAGE.ie to promote her business.

Linda Nolan, Head of Marketing at Samsung Ireland, said: “The judging panel and I were in complete awe by the drive, dedication and tenacity shown by each shortlisted entrepreneur.

“We were unanimous, however, in our decision that Jennifer Rock was the worthiest winner and are absolutely thrilled to give her this prize of Samsung technology that will no doubt be a game-changer for her business.

“We look forward to working with Jennifer to bring her business to new heights and to the prosperous future of female entrepreneurs in Ireland.”
