Garda appeal after cash-in-transit robbery in Raheny

Gardaí are seeking witnesses to a cash-in-transit robbery earlier today.

At approximately 12.05pm, a security guard was making a cash delivery to a bank in Raheny Village when he was approached by a man who was armed with a what was described as a hammer and forced to hand over a cashbox. The raider left the scene in a Renault Megane driven by a second male.

A short time later, the Renault Megane rammed a Garda patrol car on the Clontarf Road. This car was found abandoned on La Vista Ave in Clontarf.

Gardaí also recovered the cash box in this car. No arrests have been made.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them, in particular anyone who noticed anything suspicious in Raheny Village or La Vista Ave between 11.30am and 12.30pm today.

Please call the incident room at Raheny Garda Station on 01-666 4300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
