BALDOYLE Musical Society’s annual pantomime and musical have been delighting local audiences since its foundation in 1973.

This proud tradition is set to continue with rehearsals for the pantomime, ‘Beauty and The Beast’, being staged on the weekends of January 5 and 12, 2018, in St Mary’s Secondary School, Baldoyle, already in full swing.

This show is eagerly anticipated after the phenomenal success of the society’s most recent Disney-inspired pantos, ‘enTangled’ and ‘Frozen Solid’.

With a new script written by Baldoyle’s own Richie Smith, audiences can look forward to the familiar characters from this much-loved story, along with quirky plot twists and customary hilarious one-liners!

To add to this wonderful family entertainment there is the usual excellent selection of song and dance numbers, and plenty of audience participation.

Chairman of BMS, Karl Hoffman told Northside People: “We are very proud of the legacy of the Baldoyle Musical Society pantomime and we promise to continue to give great value for money to our audiences.”

Baldoyle have also had great success with their musical productions held in April evey year.

Last season’s show, ‘Seussical’, based on the works of children’s writer Dr Seuss, was a fantastic treat for both adults and children alike.

The show was noteworthy for receiving nominations in three categories at the 2017 Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) annual awards ceremony.

From April 24-28 2018, the society will stage the Broadway sensation ‘9 to 5 - The Musical’.

With music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, the show is set in the 1970s and based on the famous 1980 hit movie.

The story tells of three female co-workers who concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss.

This hilarious tale of friendship and revenge is outrageous, thought provoking, and even a little romantic.

BMS director Damien Hurley, who also directed ‘Seussical’, said: “We are really looking forward to staging this hugely entertaining comedy which we are sure our audiences will love.

“The show features a range of great characters, songs and dance numbers, and will be an excellent showcase for the talent within the society.”

The society will hold a fundraising Karaoke night at 8pm on October 27 in the White House Pub in Baldoyle. Cash prizes for winners. All are welcome. For further information please email

Tickets for both the pantomime and show can be booked at or by calling 085-1378329.
