Anthony Cooney, the new chief executive of Fingal Dublin Chamber.

FINGAL Dublin Chamber has appointed Anthony Cooney as its new chief executive.

Mr Cooney, who replaces Tony Lambert, took up his new role on August 28.

President of Fingal Dublin Chamber, Guy Thompson, said he was delighted to welcome Anthony as the new chief executive.

“Anthony has over 20 years of commercial and corporate senior leadership experience with a number of organisations in Ireland and the UK,” said Mr Thomson.

“He has excellent business links, a strong track record in developing business opportunities and a deep understanding of the economic development of the Fingal region.”

With almost 350 members and growing, the Chamber is entering an exciting new phase, according to Mr Thompson.

Mr Cooney has held senior director roles in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods’ (FMCG) industry, B2B support services and the HORECA (Hotel, Restaurant & Catering) services. He is a director of the Irish Foodservice Suppliers Alliance (IFSA).

“I am honoured to be selected as the next Fingal Dublin Chamber chief executive,” he said.

“Fingal is a vibrant economic area with exceptional medium and small businesses, multi-national organisations and the biggest economic entity, Dublin Airport.

“I’m looking forward to reaching out to existing and potential members to build further depth and strength in our membership for the benefit of all businesses in the region.

“I’m also looking forward to working with the existing President Guy Thompson and incoming President, Jock Jordan, as well as board members in making a positive contribution to the Chamber and its activities.”

Mr Cooney, who is married with two children and lives in Malahide, is a keen follower of all sports and played senior inter county hurling with Waterford.
