GARDAÍ have arrested two men and recovered cash following a burglary at the home of a couple in their eighties in Beaumont.

The burglary occurred at 2pm on Wednesday, June 28, when the couple had returned to their home following a visit to their local bank. They had withdrawn money which was intended to pay for a family holiday.

As the entered their home, a man approached from their driveway. He allegedly assaulted the couple and then fled the scene with the cash. The couple were not seriously injured but were badly bruised and traumatised.
