Almost 2,000 sewage plant submissions received

Council urged to name park after tragic boy

HUNDREDS of Southsiders have signed a petition calling on Dublin City Council to rename a local park after a boy who tragically lost his life there in the 1970s. Some 500 locals have signed a petition urging the council to rename Walkinstown Park after John Doran who was just 11-years-of-age in 1975 when he was fatally electrocuted after he climbed up an electric pylon. Call for weapons amnesty

THERE has been a huge amount of public support for a local councillor's efforts to organise a non-Garda weapons amnesty next month. Cllr Stephen Wrenn (Lab), who represents the Ballymun/Finglas ward, said the ambitious plan would be backed by a number of youth and social workers who will attempt to educate the younger generation about the dangers of having weapons in their possession. Local families welcome Chernobyl children

TEN Northside families have welcomed a number of young children affected by the Chernobyl disaster with open arms. The children were flown over from Chernobyl earlier this month as part of the Chernobyl North Dublin Outreach Group to stay with a number of host families throughout North Dublin. More...
