Amy's family in new appeal PDF Print E-mail

missing.jpgTHE family of a Coolock girl who disappeared in Spain at the start of the year has launched an appeal for donations help them to hire a private detective.
Amy Fitzpatrick (16) went missing in Mijas on January 1, while walking home from her friend’s house and hasn’t been seen since.
Amy’s aunt, Christine Kenny, and her father, Christopher Fitzpatrick, have been campaigning for months to raise awareness of the case and are now hoping to raise funds for a private detective.
“To be honest, not for one second did we ever think we would need to trouble anybody for help with funds, but Spain is so far from Ireland and the costs to get anything done is crazy,” Christine told Northside People.
“This is the first time Christopher has asked for help with funds and it will only be used to hire a private detective.
“Any funds left over will go to the missing organisation in Ireland, Miss.ie to help other families going through this situation.”
While there have been no updates in the case since Amy’s disappearance on New Year’s Day, Christine believes that a number of security cameras in the area near the dirt track, which Amy is believed to have been walking on that morning, could hold the key to solving the case.
“ We have exhausted all the avenues open to us so now we’re hoping that a private investigator might be able to shed light on where Amy went to,” she added.
“We need someone who can speak English and explain to us what is happening but unfortunately this won’t come cheap.
“I have already been quoted e450 a day, which is obviously a lot of money but worth it if it helps to get our Amy back.
“I have spent so much of my own money campaigning for a European Missing Child Alert System, printing posters and t-shirts and travelling over to Spain to help out that I just can’t afford this.”
Ms Kenny is appealing to anyone who might consider sponsoring the campaign to have Amy returned to Dublin safely to phone her on 085-7542452 or through the website www.searchforamy.com
She is also hoping to get help to release a fundraising song called ‘Little Angel’ by the band ‘Breeze 52’ in her efforts to raise funds for a private detective.
The song is dedicated to all missing children around the world and has already raised money for the Madeline McCann fund in Wexford.
The band have now kindly given Amy’s family permission to use it in their fundraising efforts.
If you would like to help Christine and Christopher, the account details are as follows: Account Name: Amy Fitzpatrick Fund, Sort Code: 990641, Account Number: 13524718, Bank: Permanent TSB Raheny Village.
The account details are also available on the website, www.searchformay.com
Meanwhile, Christopher would like to thank all the thousands of people who have contacted him and those who signed Christine's petition for the European Alert System for missing people.
