tips.jpgWITH more people opting to spend their holidays touring the country rather than jetting abroad, South Dublin Mazda dealers, Phoenix Motor in Dublin 12 and Sandyford Mazda in Dublin 18 have put together some handy travel preparation tips to ensure you will have a safe and enjoyable journey.
Some necessary checks before you head off include:
l Ensure that your vehicle is well maintained and that all lights, indicators, wipers and washers are working properly.  Check pressure and thread depth in all the tyres, including the spare, especially as you may be carrying heavy loads or towing.
l Clean the windscreen, windows and mirrors, and fill the windscreen washer bottle using a screen wash additive to help clear traffic film and dead insects.
l Load cleverly! When you have decided what to bring, don’t stack items so high that they obscure your vision and don’t bury items in the boot that you may need during a rest stop.
l Store an emergency kit in the boot including a flashlight, jump leads and a reflective triangle.
l Your car may handle differently when fully laden so allow larger braking distances and remember that acceleration can be slower when overtaking.
l Fill up with fuel before departure.
l Plan and give extra time for each journey, listening to traffic and travel radio updates for possible delays.
l Avoid fatigue by taking regular breaks and keeping hydrated. Driver fatigue a is serious hazard faced by motorists on long journeys so if you find yourself tired, pull over to a safe rest stop.
l Significantly reduce your speed while towing and be particularly careful when turning and breaking with a trailer attached.
l Book a summer service if you have any doubts whatsoever about the condition of your car.
l Take the scenic route! You’re on holiday and the world is to be explored.
“Driving with your family on a summer holiday is one of those enjoyable childhood memories we all cherish, and as our customers prepare to take their family away, these handy travelling tips will ensure a safe and pleasurable driving experience,” explained David McGonigle, managing director of Mazda Ireland.
“One of the most practical and suitable vehicles we have for family driving is the Mazda 5, thanks to its six seats, ample luggage space and rear sliding doors.”
Mazda’s multi-activity vehicle (MAV), the Mazda5, has been refreshed ensuring it is even more family friendly with enhanced comfort, convenience and safety, combined with lower driving costs.
Enhanced exterior styling to the front and rear bumpers, newly designed front and rear headlamps and sporty new 16" alloys has led to the Mazda5 being described as one of the most stylish and practical family vehicles on the road.
“The Mazda5 is the only MAV in the C-segment with two sliding rear doors, each with an impressive door opening width of 700mm,” added David.
"Our current Mazda 5 customers enjoy the fact that they can enter through the sliding doors with a child in their arms, claiming it is one of the most accessible vehicles they have driven."
The Mazda 5 is now available in all Mazda Dealer showrooms, with prices for the Mazda5 range starting from e28,995.  The South Dublin Mazda dealers also stock all accessories necessary for your holiday journey such as Car Care Kits including an emergency pack, windscreen cleaner, tyre and head lamps.
To arrange a test drive or to find out about the finance offers available on the Mazda5, call Sandyford Mazda (Dublin 18) on 2069200 or Phoenix Motors (Dublin 12) on 4601777.
