WRITERS: The newly formed Swords Writers’ Group will hold its first meeting at Rathbeale Library, Swords, on Wednesday, August 6 at 7pm. The group meet fortnightly for one hour and it is ideal for anyone who would like to write in a small group setting and share thoughts and ideas in an informal atmosphere. CEILI: Killester Ceili Club invites you to celebrate 50 years of Irish dancing at the Regency Hotel, Swords Road, on Friday, July 25, from 9pm to midnight. Featuring the Seanog Ceili Band. FESTIVAL: A fun filled community festival will take place on Sunday, July 27, from 12 noon to 7pm, at the Darndale Belcamp Village Centre. A plethora of events have been planned for this festival including live music, stalls, horse and cart rides, face painting, magic show, street entertainment, children’s art groups, fishing competition and much more. All events except the fishing competition will take place in the Village Square. URGENT APPEAL: KARE Social Services delivers meals to hundreds of people in their homes each week. There is a growing demand for this service and to ensure that everyone who needs a meal receives one, an urgent appeal is being made for more volunteer drivers. HELPLINE: Due to increasing public demand and the need to help sufferers and their families understand misleading and often confusing information, the Marino Therapy Centre is happy to announce a new nutritional helpline for people suffering from eating distress. The helpline will run on the last Tuesday of every month from 1pm to 3pm. A qualified and experienced nutritionist specialised in the treatment of Eating Distress will run the helpline. TALENT: St Margaret's Social & Entertainment Committee is holding its annual talent competition, which commences on Sunday September 28 in the Coolquoy Lodge. With a prize fund on offer of e3,900.00 the competition is considered one of the best showcases of talent in the Fingal region. CHOIR CONDUCTOR: Castleknock Church Choir is looking for a new conductor. The current conductor is retiring shortly and a replacement will be needed from September. The choir is an adult mixed four part which provides music at 12.15pm Sunday Mass and on special occasions like Easter and Christmas. The choir has a wide-ranging repertoire including modern well-known congregational Masses and pieces and is constantly adding to its material.
