CEILI: Craobh Brugha CCE Ceili will take place on Monday, July 14, from 9pm to midnight at Gaelscoil Mide, Greendale Road, Kilbarrack (new venue). Music by Brian Boru Ceili Band. Admission is e10. There will be no ceili in August.

EXHIBITION: Pat Carey, from Clonshaugh, a member of St Benedict’s Photographic Group, Kilbarrack, and double gold medal IPF award winner, will present an exhibition of his work at 6pm on July 7 and it will run until July 31. All are welcome and admission is free.

POKER: A poker classic takes place every Thursday and Sunday in Cara Hall (opposite Raheny Garda Station) at 9pm sharp. All are welcome.

BRIDGE: Baldoyle Bridge Club plays every Monday at 7.30pm in the local badminton centre in Baldoyle Industrial Estate. Now open to non-members for the summer. All are welcome.

FLOWER SHOW: The Dublin Five Horticultural Society is holding a flower show on Sunday, July 13, in Chanel College, Coolock Village, from 2pm to 6pm. Admission is e2. RED STABLES: The Rose Project Student Art Award winners from 2006 and 2007 will be welcomed to the Red Stables during this year’s Rose Festival at St Anne's Park. Alan Burns and Naomi Sex will be presenting their winning installations, photographs and video pieces in the Stable Room from July 11-20. Mary Donohoe, founder of the Rose Project, will formally open the exhibition from 5-7.30pm on Thursday, July 10.

OPEN DAY: The Animal Foundation is holding its annual Open Day/Sale of Work on Sunday, July 13, at Lough Andy’s House, South Green Road, Kildare Town, from 12 noon to 5pm. Stalls will include bric-a-brac, antiques, books, plants, toys, pet treats, raffles, minerals and snacks. All funds raised go directly towards the welfare of the animals at the Foundation. MEETING: Sutton/Baldoyle U3A is calling all over 55-year-olds. U3A is an educational self-help organisation drawing on the wealth of knowledge and experience of its members to set up study groups, common interest groups, and to organise recreational activities and trips. It is a great place to meet likeminded people, enjoy good company and can be a time of creative activity and fulfilment. DESERT CHALLENGE: Women’s Aid is looking for people to take part in its Sinai Desert Challenge from October 18 to 25. The sponsorship amount that needs to be raised is e2,950. Women’s Aid is a voluntary organisation that supports women who are physically, sexually and mentally abused in their own homes. URGENT APPEAL: KARE Social Services delivers meals to hundreds of people in their homes each week. There is a growing demand for this service and to ensure that everyone who needs a meal receives one, an urgent appeal is being made for more volunteer drivers. TREK: In association with ACARA, Chernobyl Children's Appeal has been offered an excellent opportunity to raise much-needed funds. MOTHERS: Volunteer mothers are required to visit first and second time mothers in their own homes. The Community Mothers’ Programme is a Parent Support Programme in which friendly local women, known as community mothers, carry out monthly visits. Training and support is given to volunteers. CLUB: Club 4 U is an exciting new club that has been set up for youths between 15 and 18 to provide an alternative to alcohol and drugs. HEART: The Irish Heart Foundation Helpline at 1890 432 787 is now available full-time following strong demand from the public. A second Helpline nurse has been recruited to the service and it is now available from 10am-5pm, Monday to Friday.

The helpline will run on the last Tuesday of every month from 1pm to 3pm. A qualified and experienced nutritionist specialised in the treatment of Eating Distress will run the helpline. CHOIR CONDUCTOR: Castleknock Church Choir is looking for a new conductor. The current conductor is retiring shortly and a replacement will be needed from September. The choir is an adult mixed four part which provides music at 12.15pm Sunday Mass and on special occasions like Easter and Christmas. The choir has a wide-ranging repertoire including modern well-known congregational Masses and pieces and is constantly adding to its material.
