Special praise for a special teacher

BEFORE the school term came to an end last Friday, a teacher at a Northside school was singled out for special praise by parents for her commitment to helping her pupils.
Siobhan Tracey, who teaches sixth class at Bayside Senior National School, has been hailed as a great role model for the children by parents and co-workers.
According to local parent, Grainne Garofalo, Ms Tracey has repeatedly gone beyond the call of duty to improve the children’s learning experience.
“Ms Tracey is a great role model for our children to learn from,” stated Ms Garofalo.
“All the class have great admiration for her and she has given them memories of what school is all about, which they will cherish for the rest of their lives.
“She has been there for the children in good and bad times, and has given help to them and their parents in all situations that only herself and those involved can really acknowledge.
“She has given many hours of her spare time to create wonderful memories of our children through an emotional DVD.”
Another parent, Amanda Rogers, said Ms Tracey has had a positive influence on all of the children and is completely and totally dedicated to her profession.
“My son Jack injured himself playing basketball outside school and as we waited in Temple Street Hospital for surgery, one of the first calls I received was from Ms Tracey to see how we were holding up,” Ms Rogers told Northside People.
“She absolutely leads by example, her motto being: ‘everything you do in life do it well’.
“She has instilled this into her class over the past two years.
Ms Rogers added: “Ms Tracey has produced DVDs, laminated photographs of the group, taught them Luke Kelly songs and gone completely above and beyond her remit as a teacher.
“We are lucky to have had such a positive influence in our children’s lives at this very impressionable age.”
Ms Tracey also taught Paula and Gerry Ussher’s son, Nicky, for the last two years and they said she has been absolutely fantastic in every way.
“I only hope that my other two sons are lucky enough to have her,” Paula stated.
“She is full of energy and always goes that little bit further.
“I am a teacher myself so I know the amount of work she has done.”
Paula said that now her son is moving on from Ms Tracey’s class, they would miss her greatly.
“We hope she will continue in Bayside for many years,” she added.
