ucd.gifIN the other Superleague Cup semi-final, Dublin’s UCD Marian had no answer to the class of reigning cup holders Abrakebabra Tigers as they fell to an 83-71 defeat.
UCD Marian, who reached the semi-finals for the first time in over 20 years, looked like creating a shock when they matched Tigers until the end of the third quarter before a late surge from the Kerry side kept their hopes of retaining the cup intact.

Afterwards, UCD Marian manager, Thomas Tracey, revealed pride for his side after running one of the finest teams in the country so close.
"We are very proud of the players," Tracey said.
"I was delighted with how the younger Irish players got on against a side like Tigers.
"Their experience stood to them in the last quarter but we never gave up and feel we did ourselves justice against them.”
Meanwhile, in the semi-finals of the Women’s Superleague Cup, Dublin’s DCU Mercy were on the receiving end of an agonising two-point loss to Waterford Wildcats.
A basket with 52 seconds remaining from Wildcats’ American player, Katie McNamara, earned them a fantastic win at the NBA.
