Northside carers are being sought for this year’s Carer of the Year Awards.
The Carers Association is seeking nominees for the awards, which were recently launched by Minister for Health, Mary Harney TD.
Cathy White of the Carers Association spoke of how the work of family carers often goes unpaid and unrecognised.
“Dublin's family carers provide full-time care for their loved ones, those with special needs and those who are terminally ill,” she said. “Our Carer of the Year Awards is a celebration of their phenomenal contribution.”
The overall Carer of the Year 2008 will be presented with their award at a special ceremony in October. The launch also announced the Young Carer of the Year Award in recognition of Ireland’s 5,000 teenagers and children who provide care in the home.
