open.jpgPORTMARNOCK’S Adrian Morrow fired a flawless final round 67 to power clear of the field and capture the Portuguese Tourist Board sponsored Irish Seniors Amateur Open Championship at Westport Golf Club over the June bank holiday weekend.
The former Irish international, who played 39 Home International matches between 1975  and 2000, trailed Jimmy Lynch (Laytown & Bettystown) by four strokes entering the final round but that margin was cancelled after just five holes of the final round.
Clynch played solidly over those opening holes but Morrow burst from the traps with a birdie on the fourth followed by an eagle two on the fifth.
Nine straight pars followed for the Portmarnock man before a grandstand finish of birdie, par, birdie, birdie.
Clynch continued his solid play and finished runner-up to Morrow and also picked up a trophy for the leading Over 65s player.
