league.jpgONE of the Europe's largest organisers of small-sided soccer has announced  details of four brand new soccer leagues that will take place in Dublin.
Leisure Leagues have put together the new competitions which will soon take place at the grounds of Dublin City University, Ballymun Kickhams GAA Club, Templeogue United FC and the AUL Complex in Swords.
Each new team that takes part in this year's leagues will be able to take advantage of an offer of a free team kit, as well as free entry to the league.
Both the winners and runners up of each league will receive gold or silver trophies for each individual player, with the bottom team in the division receiving a silver-plated wooden spoon.
In addition to this, there will be awards for Player of The Season as well as a magnum of champagne for the winning team.
Lee Wilcox, Lesiure Leagues' general manager in Ireland, explained the concept behind the leagues.
“We run leagues right across the country and although most of the teams come from local amateur clubs, the majority of our teams are simply made up of work colleagues, pub teams, or groups of friends," Mr Wilcox said.
"This means that the standard can be very varied but we will be providing different divisions for different standards so everybody is given the opportunity to play a competitive game of football once a week with the chance of winning prizes."
Mr Wilcox revealed there has been a lot of interest already for the new leagues and has urged any teams that are thinking about entering to do so as soon as possible.
“We already run successful leagues throughout Ireland and are certain that the leagues in Dublin will be just as popular as the others that are already running," he said.
"With four leagues set to start at various locations in and around the city, we are hoping that everyone who wants to play can easily get to their nearest league”.
As well as the free entry and kit, all matches are refereed by a qualified European Independent Football Federation (EIFF) official and all equipment will be provided.
“We take care of everything. All people need to do is turn up and pay the match fee," Mr Wilcox added.
Entering online at www.leisureleagues.ie is the quickest and easiest way to get a team registered for the league.
The only cost for teams is the E35 match fee per team per week.
However, Leisure Leagues is committed to investing all its profits into charities and environmentally sustainable projects.
Anyone who wants to register a team for any of the four new leagues – or wants more information on any other leagues – can call 0818 240 246 or register online at www.leisureleagues.ie
Referees are always needed for the leagues in Ireland, and anyone interested is urged to get in touch on the same contact number.
