Construction work will recommence on the state-of-the-art Shamrock Rovers stadium in Tallaght to ensure it is available for use for next season.
According to local Fianna Fáil TD, Charlie O'Connor, the wheels are back in motion regarding the construction process on the stadium.
“The people here in Tallaght are eager to see the stadium up and running,” he said. “As a local TD, and indeed a resident in the area, I am pleased that progress has been made and I know that Shamrock Rovers will be warmly welcomed by the community."
The council has informed the TD that they now hope to have the builders on site in three weeks so that the construction programme will be completed to allow Rovers play in the stadium at the start of next season.
“I have been working in conjunction with South Dublin County Council asking them to liaise with the contractors to ensure construction work is resumed with immediate action,” Deputy O’Connor added.
"The council has informed me that they are finalising details with a contractor regarding the works on phase 1 of the development. This phase includes the pitch and completion of the stand and ancillary buildings. The council has appointed a project manager to oversee the completion of this contract.
“This is an issue I have campaigned on for some time and I intend to follow the construction process closely,” he added.
