joeys.jpgSt Joseph's BoyTWO Dublin football teams are one step closer to the dream of representing their country at the Danone Nations Cup finals in Paris in September.
s and Shelbourne secured their place in the national finals of this year's tournament with triumphant performances in the Dublin and District Schoolboys’ League (DDSL) Finals at Pearse Park, Crumlin.
St Joseph's and Shelbourne both topped their group on day one of the two-day tournament thus earning a place in the regional quarter finals.
Shelbourne were joined in the last eight by the 2007 national champions, Cherry Orchard, but that was as far as they were to get this year as they crashed out after a 2-0 defeat to St Kevin's Boys.
St Joseph's and Knocklyon were the qualifiers from their group and both were involved in extremely close quarter final contests.
For the second year running, St Joseph's beat Home Farm with a 1-0 quarter final win, while Knocklyon were unlucky to lose out in a penalty shootout to Crumlin after a 0-0 draw.
There were no goals scored in either of the semi-finals, as Joey's took on St Kevin's and Crumlin United battled against Shelbourne.
Both games eventually had to be settled by penalties and St Joseph's and Shelbourne kept their nerve to go forward to represent the DDSL in the national final in June.
