A STUNNING Northside girl is dreaming of some glorious mornings in Vietnam as she bids to become Ireland’s representative at this year’s Miss Universe competition.Nadia Forde (18), from Castle Avenue, Clontarf, was recently announced as Miss North Dublin for 2008 and will go forward to compete against 30 finalists in Miss Universe Ireland next month. Being selected for the glamorous event has been a dream come true for Nadia who last year completed her Leaving Cert at Holy Faith School in Clontarf. If Nadia wins the Miss Universe Ireland event, which takes place at the Citywest Hotel on Saturday, April 26, she will then compete at the Miss Universe Pageant in Vietnam later this year. Speaking to Northside People, Nadia said she was really looking forward to the competition, which she was selected for after sending in pictures of herself from her Bebo site. “I noticed on the Miss Universe Bebo page that they were looking for girls to send in photographs,” she stated. “So I sent in a couple of quite normal pictures of myself, including one from my school graduation and luckily, I was chosen to go forward to represent North Dublin.” Nadia, who is currently working for FM104 as she considers studying media in college from next year, is no stranger to the camera. She has done a number of promotional photoshoots and modelling assignments in the past and would not be against a career in the business. “I have really enjoyed doing this type of work and I suppose competing in the Miss Universe event can only help my cause,” Nadia said. “A lot of the modelling I have done in the past has been quite random and came through either being seen while doing a job or through word of mouth. “I am also getting great experience while working with FM104, as it is giving me the opportunity to see many different aspects of the media profession.” Nadia has already come into contact with some of the other contestants for Miss Universe Ireland, which is being organised by model Andrea Roche, and she said it should be a really fun event. “All the other girls are really nice and having also heard stories of contestants from past years, it sounds as if it will be a fantastic competition,” she added. “I intend to put my heart and soul into this competition and I’m thrilled to be representing the Northside.” Nadia Forde will also feature in the April edition of VIP magazine.
