eclipse.jpgSOME of the Northside’s most talented youngsters are busy perfecting their stage routines this week ahead of a spectacular dance show due to be held at St Eithne’s Primary School in Edenmore.
More than 50 performers from the Eclipse Stage School in Kilbarrack will wow the crowd with ‘We Go Together’, an evening of song and dance ranging from contemporary chart-toppers and hip-hop to musical theatre.
Speaking during a hectic run of rehearsals, choreographer Kenneth Giles (20) was fully confident that the hard work put in by the talented group would pay off on the night.
“The kids are aged from four to 16 and they are brilliant singers, dancers and all-round performers,” Kenneth told Northside People.
“I know there are future stars in this group.”
The highlight of the night will be a half-hour medley from Glee, the US TV show currently taking Ireland by storm.
The show will also feature hits from Grease, Mamma Mia and Hairspray, together with songs by pop sensations Lady Gaga and Leona Lewis.
A measure of the group’s success is their video version of the Glee song, ‘Don’t Stop Believing’, by Journey.
The video has already received almost 1,000 hits on YouTube. It was also aired on TV3 on April 28 as part of the nationwide ‘Get Your Glee On’ competition.
Although the Kilbarrack group narrowly missed making it into the final 20, their video was selected from hundreds of entries to be broadcast on TV3’s ‘The Morning Show’ with Sybil Mulcahy and Martin King.
“The feedback we have been getting to the video is fantastic,” said Kenneth.
“We’ve had more YouTube views than some of the finalists in the competition and it’s making us all really excited about the show in St Eithne’s.”
Eclipse Stage School might be missing out on the Glee competition prize of performing at the O2 Childline concert in November, but they’ve got plenty to keep them busy with their upcoming show.
“We do two shows a year, at Christmas and in the summer, and the support and commitment from the kids, the parents and the whole community is always phenomenal,” added Kenneth, who has been working with Eclipse Stage School since 2007.
“It’s unusual to get a group of 50 talented children who are all willing to perform and put in the hard work every week; I know the audience will love them.”
‘We Go Together – Your Summer Starts Right Here’ will take place for two nights only, Saturday and Sunday, May 29 and 30, at St Eithne’s Primary School in Edenmore.
