Alfa Romeo unveils new sports car PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 24 March 2008
alfa.jpgAlfa Romeo has released first photos of its new compact sports car named Mi.To.
The name (pronounced 'mee-tow') has two sources: in Italian mito means 'myth', but the name also derives from the four letters of postal addresses of two cities inextricably linked to the brand's past and its future, Milano (MI) and Torino (TO).
The Mi.To is the first new car from Alfa since the stunning 8C Competizione, the car that set a new benchmark for style and technology. Some key design elements of the 8C are to be seen in the Mi.To, such as layout of the frontal grille and air-intakes, the unframed side windows, the shape of the headlights and the LED rear lights. Overall, the styling confirms that Mi.To is a car of power, substance and performance.
Traditional Alfa Romeo performances come from a range of 4 petrol and diesel Turbo engines that range from 90bhp up to 155bhp. More powerful engines will be added later. Mi.To's dimensions are 4.06 metres long, 1.44 metres high and 1.72 metres wide.
Alfa Rome's spirit has always been to offer style, design, performance and technology that is always state-of-the-art. Mi.To offers customers all this with outstanding driveability thanks to the new Alfa 'DNA' control system.
This control acts on the engine, brakes, steering, suspension and gearbox, allowing three different vehicle behaviour modes based on the driving style best suited to the situation or the customer's wishes.
The Alfa Mi.To will be introduced to the international press during June and will then be gradually introduced from July in all the major markets. It is expected to go on sale in Ireland for next January.
