mascots.jpgTWO underage Northside GAA players received a special treat last month when they were given the opportunity to be mascots for the Dublin senior team in their league game against Westmeath.
Michael Cullen and Jamie Breen, who both play for Whitehall Colmcille’s under 11s, had their photo taken with Dublin star Jason Sherlock.
Earlier that day, the boys, pupils at St Fiachra’s National School, Beaumont, were part of the Whitehall teams that played O’Toole’s in two exciting games.
The standard was very high and the commitment shown by both sides was second to none.
At this age, each club fields two 9-a-side teams. While one team had a tough game that resulted in a well-deserved draw, the other team came from behind to win convincingly thanks to some great tactical changes by mentor Tony O’Sullivan and some strong scoring from Andrew Everson.
Both clubs played excellent football and their players were a credit to them.
Special mention must be made of some exceptional performances from Whitehall, including Daragh Gray, Eoin McDonald, Cian Power, Jack Darcy and Tony O'Sullivan Jnr, Colm Kane, Jordon O’Brien, Shaunagh Harte, Gavin Boyle and Jamie Breen.
The Whitehall mentors for this age group are John Bollard, Andy Cullen, Danny Breen and Tony O'Sullivan.
