A NORTHSIDE pop star is being mourned by her family, fans and friends following her tragic death last week in a car crash in India.
Beverley O’Sullivan (28), from Donaghmede, had enjoyed a successful career as a member of Irish pop group Fifth Avenue who regularly toured with Westlife.
However, last week her promising career was brought to a premature end leaving her family and loved ones devastated.
Distraught fans and friends have been posting messages online in tribute to the talented star.
“You'll be sorely, sorely missed; you may be gone but your melody will live on,” one fan stated.
Another fan described her as a “friendly, bubbly girl” who was “talented and gorgeous” adding that it was a “terrible pity for her poor family and boyfriend”.
Westlife singer Mark Feehily added his own touching tribute, stating: “I am so sad to hear the news of Beverley O'Sullivan's death. I sung alongside her at my cousin's wedding this summer. She was gorgeous and talented.”
FM104 DJ Tony Dixon explained on his blog that he was in total shock when he learned of Beverley's death.
“I first met Beverley with her mom when she was about 16-years-old,” he said.
“She had sent me a demo to get over to Trevor Nelson at the BBC. They were so impressed that they sent producer Russell Crewe over to meet her.
“You’re another bright star in the sky that we will all look up to tonight and smile silently with love and thanks at all the fantastic joy that you introduced into this world through your talent and for just being Beverley.
“To your Mom and Dad and family, and all who knew you, let all the good memories of you help them through this very sad time.”
Beverley had been involved in the music industry for over 10 years and received several awards including Gold and Platinum discs during her time with Fifth Avenue.
She had performed alongside stars such as Lenny Kravitz, Shakira, Tina Arena, and The Sugababes.
She had also just finished her first big acting role playing the part of a cabaret singer in the Irish film ‘Happy Ever Afters’.
Beverley was a cousin of the missing Coolock girl Amy Fitzpatrick. The pair had enjoyed a close relationship when Amy was living in Dublin and had even spent time together in Spain before the teenager’s disappearance.
Touchingly, Beverley had recorded a song in honour of her 15-year-old cousin in a bid to help raise awareness of the campaign to find her.
