peugeot5008.jpgA striking new compact people carrier will be launched in Ireland in early 2010.
The seven seat Peugeot 5008 shares the famous ‘5’ series name with the legendary Peugeot 504 and the Peugeot 505 Family Estate, both great family favourites.
In its day, the Peugeot 505 Family Estate was the benchmark seven-seat family car and Peugeot aims to repeat this performance with the new 5008.
Available in three trims, the 5008 will retail in Ireland from e26,995 plus dealer delivery related charges for the Level 1 SE Model, rising to e30,995 plus dealer delivery related charges for the Level 3 SV Model.
The 5008 will accommodate up to seven occupants and their luggage. The driver benefits from a raised driving position giving excellent visibility, combined with ergonomically positioned controls, mirrored in the new 3008. With its large front windscreen and glass roof, passengers enjoy a bright and spacious interior with exceptional panoramic views of the outside.
Flexibility is a key strength of the 5008 with an innovative flat-folding rear seat arrangement to maximise the load area.
The front passenger seat can be folded flat into a shelf configuration to load long objects right up to the fascia panel. Passengers can easily access the third row seats from the second with one easy movement.
The seat cushion lifts and the seat back moves forward, freeing up maximum space to allow entry to the third row, where two full size seats also fold individually into the floor.
The load area of the 5008 offers a generous capacity, ranging from 758 litres to 823 litres under the parcel shelf with the third row seats folded away.
The 5008 will set new standards in the MPV segment for safety. Comprehensive safety equipment across all three models includes ESP, ABS, ASR, electronic brake force distribution, six air bags, automatic electric parking brake with hill assist function and fasten seat belt warnings on all seats.
Indeed the Peugeot 5008 is the only car in its segment with curtain airbags that protect all three rows of passengers. A childseat ISOFIX system is standard on all three seats in the middle row.
Peugeot has worked extensively to provide 5008 customers with road holding comparable to that of a saloon car. A high level of comfort and convenience is maintained, as demanded by the users of people carriers.
Rear parking assistance is available (standard on SV model), as well as a new system to measure parking space. Two sensors located on the sides of the bumpers provide a visual indication on the multifunction display and offering the suggested parking manoeuvre.
To make long journeys more enjoyable, the 5008 offers second row passengers a multimedia system integrated into the passenger compartment. Consisting of two 7’’ colour screens located in the back of the head restraints, each screen can run independent of the other.
At launch the 5008 will be available in Ireland with a 1.6 HDi FAP 110bhp 6-speed manual emitting 140g/km CO2, qualifying for e156 annual road tax. An electronically controlled Eco gearbox option is available at a e1,000 premium and qualifying for e156 annual road tax (135g/CO2). The Eco gearbox offers a real alternative to automatic drivers faced with high road tax costs in Ireland.
The new Peugeot 5008 will be launched in Ireland in early 2010 at Peugeot dealerships nationwide.
