MEALS ON WHEELS: Volunteer drivers are urgently needed for the delivery of meals in the Swords area around midday. EXHIBITION: Clontarf Community and Historical Exhibition will take place at St Anthony’s Old Church Hall, Clontarf Road, from Friday to Sunday, November 6-8, from 10am to 5pm. Groups and clubs in the Clontarf area will portray their history, ongoing work and role in the community. This is an opportunity to meet the people who are providing services in all aspects of community life in Clontarf.
All members of the public, schools and groups are welcome to attend. A walk in the footsteps of Bram Stoker, author of ‘Dracula’, starts from St Anthony’s Old Church Hall from 11am on Saturday, November 7, and will take approximately one hour. WINTER FAIR: Clontarf and Scots Presbyterian Church are holding their annual Winter Fair on Saturday, November 7, from 11am to 2.30pm at Howth Road School (opposite Westwood Fitness/ Barcode in Fairview) in aid of the organ fund.
There will be lots of stalls, including crafts, gifts, cakes and homemade produce, books, plants and children’s fun area.  Please come, bring your friends and do some Christmas bargain shopping. Admission, including refreshments, is e2.50 per individual or e6 per family.

MS EVENT: The North Dublin branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society is holding a social event on Tuesday, October 27, at 8pm at the Irish Wheelchair Association’s headquarters in Clontarf. A film entitled ‘Room To Manoeuvre’ will be shown on the night. It is about a man who has MS and his wife and how they very successfully adapted their home to take account of the limitations on his mobility.

SALE OF WORK: The Little Sisters of the Poor, Sacred Heart Residence, Sybil Hill Road, Raheny, is holding its annual fundraising sale of work on Saturday, November 7. Doors open at 9.30am. Admission is e2.  

ANNUAL MASS: The National Graves’ Association’s annual mass for all those who died in the cause of Irish Freedom will take place on Sunday, November 1, at 11.30am in the Capuchin Church, Church Street, Dublin. All are welcome to attend.

URGENT APPEAL: KARE Social Services delivers meals to hundreds of people in their homes each week. MOTHERS: Volunteer mothers are required to visit first and second time mothers in their own homes. The Community Mothers’ Programme is a Parent Support Programme in which friendly local women, known as community mothers, carry out monthly visits. Training and support is given to volunteers. CLUB: Club 4 U is an exciting new club that has been set up for youths between 15 and 18 to provide an alternative to alcohol and drugs. ART: Ballygall Art Studio is holding its annual art exhibition in aid of Cappagh Orthopaedic Hospital on Friday, November 13 at 7.30pm in The Auditorium, Cappagh Hospital. The exhibition will be opened by meteorologist and RTE weather presenter Evelyn Cusack and it will continue on Saturday, November 14 from 11am-8pm and Sunday, November 15 from 11am-5pm. A raffle will take place at 5pm on Sunday, the first prize being an original oil painting by one of the exhibiting artists. Proceeds go to Cappagh Hospital Funds.

NORDIC WALKING: A new Nordic Walking group is holding walks in the Phoenix Park every Saturday and Tuesday evening. Originating from summer training for cross-country skiers, Nordic Walking works the upper and lower body at the same time, strengthening back, legs and arms, and reducing neck and shoulder tension. Exercise intensity is determined by upper body effort so people of differing fitness levels can walk and talk together, while working to their own level. Full training available. SINGERS WANTED: Dublin City Council Choir are a mixed choir drawn from all over the city. They rehearse from 5.30pm-7.30pm every Thursday evening in Civic Offices, Wood Quay, and would welcome those who enjoy raising their voices (especially tenors) in song and meeting like-minded people.

VOLUNTEERS: An Irish development agency is looking for participants from Dublin to join a fundraising field trip to the heart of Africa this autumn. Self Help has been organising field visits for its supporters to Africa for the past decade. The trips require participants to fundraise to support the charity’s work, and enables them to see at first hand the work that is taking place, and the lasting impact that it has on the lives of Africa’s rural poor. SUE RYDER: The Sue Ryder Shop is Blackrock's only charity shop and they are looking for donations, particularly of used or unwanted bridal, communion and debs wear. The shop is now open six days a week from Monday to Saturday from 10-5pm. It is located a few doors from Tonic pub and stocks clothes, books and bric-a-brac which raise funds to help maintain shelters for those in need.
