taekwondo11.jpgA FUNDRAISING fight night was held at Ayrfield Community Centre on January 30 in aid of the Leinster Taekwondo team.
A total of 18 matches took place with representatives from Baldoyle, Swords, Ayrfield, Santry, Clondalkin, Ballymun, Stamullen,Coolock and Finglas all featuring in the Leinster squad.
Special guest clubs from Ulster and CHI UK also took part. The highlight of the night was the team event with Leinster taking on the CHI UK team.
Three fighters from each squad were selected. The Leinster team comprised Connor Grassick, Jamie Barry and Claire O'Rourke, while Jamie Abley, Ben Shaw and Catherine Phipps represented CHI UK,
These fighters provided great entertainment and some jaw dropping kicks. Leinster won the contest 2-1.
The event proved to be a great success and raised some much-needed funds for the Leinster Taekwondo team and their path to gold.
The Irish Taekwondo Union was founded in 1984. Taekwondo has been part of the Summer Olympic Games since the 2000 Games after being a demonstration sport in 1988 and 1992.
