Ford is No 1 in Dublin

Ford was the top vehicle brand in Dublin in 2007, raising its share to 14.9 per cent of the overall car and van market that showed a 4.1 per cent increase on the previous year.
Figures from the SIMI (Society of the Irish Motor Industry) show Ford sold a total of 12,202 units in the county from an overall market of 81,746 vehicles.
Total sales of cars in the county were 67,574 in 2007 - an increase of 1,502 units (or 2.2 per cent) from the previous year. In the van sector, the sales figure for the county was 14,172 units, which is an increase of 14.3 per cent over the 2006 figure.
Overall national sales figures for the car and van market grew by 4.3 per cent and 6 per cent respectively.
"In the face of stiff competition, it is gratifying to finish number one in the Dublin car and van market in 2007," commented Eddie Murphy, Chairman and Managing Director, Ford Ireland.
"The result is a tribute both to the excellence of our 14 dealers in the capital and to the strength of the Ford lineup."
Sales in Dublin accounted for 36.2 per cent of all car sales and 28.4 per cent of van sales in Ireland last year.
