A NORTH county Dublin soccer club has reason to look forward to 2009 after agreeing a sponsorship deal with a local fitness centre.MiGym Health and Fitness Centre, based at Boroimhe Shopping Centre, Swords, has agreed to become a main sponsor of Rivervalley Rangers for this year and possibly beyond. David Gibney, PRO for the senior section at the club, said everyone is delighted with the deal. “MiGym have agreed to invest in the club both in terms of finance and time, and this is an extremely valuable asset for a local football club like ours,” stated Mr Gibney. “We intend using the gym during the winter break in order to keep our fitness levels at a high standard. “This should give us a huge advantage over other teams in our league and it will hopefully help the club progress to the next level.” Mr Gibney pointed out that local businesses supporting local clubs in the current economic and social environment is very important to the community. “Over the next few months I’d expect to see funding from the Government towards local sports clubs being cut,” he added. “As businesses also begin to tighten their belts, along with club members, it’s going to be difficult for clubs like Rivervalley Rangers to raise the finances needed to provide the same quality of services to the local community. “That’s why obtaining new sponsorship from a company like MiGym is all the more important at this moment in time. “I’d like to thank the MiGym owners on behalf of the players and members of Rivervalley Rangers Football Club and we all look forward to a continued association in the coming years.” Meanwhile, if anybody would like to join Rivervalley Rangers FC, they are advised to contact club secretary Barry O’Sullivan on 087-9086952. |
