FAI coaching course held at St Ita's PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 02 October 2008
THE FAI, in partnership with Fingal County Council, recently hosted a Kickstart Two education course at St Ita’s AFC in Portrane, which saw 26 soccer coaches progressing to the next level.
Kick Start 2 is the second part of a two-part Introduction to coaching programmes within the FAI’s Coach Education Scheme.
The course is open to all interested parties, aged 16 and over, experienced or otherwise.
Hosted by FAI Tutors Mitch Whittey, Brian Donnelly and Paul Keogh (FAI/FCC Soccer in the Community Development Officer) the course resulted in 26 coaches, mostly from the Fingal area, taking the next step on the FAI coach education ladder.
The course is designed to assist coaches in the development of young players (aged 9-12 years).
Mr Keogh said coach education was paramount to the development of the game in Ireland.
“It was great turnout on the day and the participants were very enthusiastic, which makes it very easy for us to deliver a quality product,” he said.
“A lot of thanks must go to Fingal’s Sports Unit who contribute financially to reduce the cost to its clubs and their continued support ensures there are high numbers of coaches availing of the FAI’s coaching programme.”
Mr Keogh is available to provide information on coaching courses in North Fingal or to answer any soccer query. He can be contacted on 086-0444435 or by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
