FAMILY FUN: In an drive to raise funds for their resource centre, the parents and volunteers of Hill Street Family Resource Centre are hosting a fete on Saturday February 2 between 11am and 1pm. There will a cake sale, rumage sale, competitions for the children, including a bonny baby competition and lots more. Come along to the playground at Hill Street, Dublin 1 (just off Parnell Street).

INDIA WALK: The Cysitc Fibrosis Annual International Walk will take place from September 27 to October 8 this year. Willing participants are needed. Walkers will travel to Kerala, which is on the south east coast of India. This promises to be an enjoyable experience and will raise much needed funds for Cystic Fibrosis Research. WIDOWS: The National Association of Widows of Ireland is holding its annual seminar in the Skylon Hotel, Drumcondra Road on February 20. The Lord Mayor, Cllr Paddy Bourke, will open the meeting at 10am. This year's theames will centre on health and wellbeing. Clare Murphy will give a talk on healthcare while Michelle O'Brien will discuss osteoporosis. Any member of the public who would like to attend is very welcome.

HOSPITAL PLAY: Play Well is looking for volunteers for their hospital play services. The volunteers provide play activities for children in hospitals around the city. CONCERT: The Students' Union of the Royal Irish Academy of Music presents the third concert in their recently inaugurated 'Rush Hour Recital' series. The concert will feature a variety of classical music, including works from Shostakovich, Mendelssohn, Bach and Chopin, performed by some of the talented students of the Academy. PARENTING: ‘Raising Boys for Fathers’ is a two evening training course, each session lasts two hours, for fathers, step dads or grandfathers. It was developed in recognition of the fact that fathers were not attending generic parenting programmes. As a result the course was developed specifically to address the needs of Irish fathers. EXHIBITION: Raheny Heritage Society have mounted an exhibition on the life of Dr Marie Hayes, a missionary doctor, from Raheny, who died in India 100 years ago and whose memorial Cross still stands in the centre of Raheny village. The exhibition shows photographs of her life both in Raheny and India as well as extracts from her letters. The exhibition is on display in Raheny Library every day for the month of January and all are welcome to come along and view it.

SCOIL AINE: Details of the 50-year anniversary celebrations at Scoil Aine, Raheny, have been announced. At 7pm on Tuesday, February 5, there will be a Special Mass in Raheny Church for all the school community, including past pupils, past staff, past members of the board of management and members of the local community who have an interest and involvement in the school. Following the Mass there will be light refreshments in the school hall and an opportunity for those who are interested in going down memory lane to have a look around the school until about 9.30pm. URGENT APPEAL: KARE Social Services delivers meals to hundreds of people in their homes each week. There is a growing demand for this service and to ensure that everyone who needs a meal receives one, an urgent appeal is being made for more volunteer drivers. BOXING: New members are welcome at Bay City Boxing Club. Training takes place on Sundays from 11am to 12.30pm and Wednesdays from 6.30pm to 8pm at Kilbarrack Community Hall, Greendale Road (near Foxhound Pub and Kilbarrack DART Station).

POKER: A poker classic takes place every Thursday and Sunday in Cara Hall (opposite Raheny Garda Station) at 9pm sharp. Everyone is welcome.

TREK: In association with ACARA, Chernobyl Children's Appeal has been offered an excellent opportunity to raise much-needed funds. The Brazilian Trek is an adventure of a lifetime and a great way to support the appeal. ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS: Do you or someone you know have a problem with alcohol? The Killester Group Social Services Care Centre on Sybil Hill holds an open public meeting on the last Monday of every month, except bank holidays. 

GUIDES: The Coolock Girl Guide Unit - Cygnets (5 and 6 years of age), Brigine (7-10), Guides (10–14) and Rangers (15-18) have recommenced meetings. New members are welcome in all sections.
