A HOWTH woman has launched an emotional appeal for the return of her puppy, which she fears was stolen from the grounds of her home last month. A substantial reward is now being offered to anyone who can return the dog safely to its owner. Christine St Lawrence, who lives in Howth Castle, discovered her pet dog, ‘Mungo’, was missing on the afternoon of December 14 when he didn’t return with her other two dogs who had been playing in the castle grounds. Ms St Lawrence said she went down to the nearby Howth Transport Museum where a man said he had seen her dogs playing with a group of three or four people.” Ms St Lawrence is appealing to all animal lovers to keep an eye out for her pet and hopes that somebody will recognise the dog and help return it to her. “He answers to the name ‘Mungo’ and is a pedigree Cairne terrier,” she told Northside People. “He is mostly grey but has black parts around his face too. “He was a present for my birthday from my husband and I am incredibly fond of him; it’s like having a lost child. “We really love our pets and the family is incomplete without him. “He is not a rare dog, he is just a loved pet so we would appeal for his return. “We have been in touch with the gardai and we put posters up all over the area so we are hoping to find some information about where Mungo is.” Ms St Lawrence said she is willing to pay a reward or even buy her dog back. Anyone with information can contact her on 086-3458888. “He is not an expensive breed,” she added. “We are more interested than anyone else in having him so we will be willing to pay for his return. “We live in hope that somebody will be able to get him back for us.” |
